Hi

When i put my Tohatsu 25 in idle there is a constant clicking sound. Ive heard that Ive have to adjust my gears, but how?

Yesterday Ive opened up the underwater housing, but I dont understand what to adjust...

Can someone help me?

Se added photos. The text on them is in norwegian, but if you know what to do, you dont need the text.

Is it clicking in neutral, or when it's in gear?

Are you 100% sure the noise is coming from the lower unit? If so, inspect the gears for missing/damaged teeth.

No. Yesterday i found out that the noise is coming from the upper unit. Does anyone know what can make a clicking sound. It sounds like two things made of steel is hit each other in high speed. Like this "trrrrrrrrrrrr"

Im sorry for bad english, but Im from Norway :p

Could be anything mechanical up top. Your worse case is internal crank failure....That would be very unlikely as Tohatsu cranks will not fail unless they are run without oil or if they are in a collision.

Hi! Thanks for all help!

I really dont think it is a internal crank failure. I dont know how to explain the sound, but I think its located where all the electrical wires are. In that area. Altso in the front to the left-ish

Like Elvin said... could be almost anything. Does the sound disappear above idle? Could be something in the recoil starter, or anything barely striking the starter ring gear, for example. One really has to inspect it to be sure.

Thaks for all help! Ill turn it in to my local tohatsu dealer after the easter holliday.

And yes, it disappear when I put it in gear. Its not there when i have the lowest rpm when it's in gear, but as soon I put it in neutreal the sound is there at any rpm
Have a nice one

Hello... I was hoping you could tell me what the mechanic discovered wrong with your engine. Mine is doing the exact same thing and I can not figure it out.

Is the sound still cliking when you remove cowl while engine is on, if ok, probaby the front & rear cowl latch has some play and vibrates along against engine pan, anyway how old is the engine ?
