Clicking Sound when Starting--Did I fry something?

I have Mercury 140, battery cables are in pretty bad/corroded shape so I figured I'd change them out..Unfortunately I forgot to turn my battery switchbox (round red one) to "all off" and when I was taking off the bolt on the motor that holds the positive from the batteries I got a spark from touching the motor case on the side (nothing too bad, I have definitely done worse in the past on car batteries, etc..).
I stopped, shut off power and tightened it back up. I decided I would change the cables out later. So I pulled out and charged both batteries, slapped them back in and"...click click click click ..."is all I hear from the motor the next day out in the river while trying to start the boat. Sounds almost like something in between buzzing and clicking. (FYI motor not turning at all) Did I fry something when I grounded out the positive on the motor??
The only other thing I can think of is that there isn't a good enough electrical connection, and the starter just isn't getting enough power (or maybe a good enough ground?) to start the boat. I am going to change all the wiring tomorrow morning, but was just curious if I could have cause some major damage with that spark I made:confused:

Hopefully its just the connection, but I started the boat literally 1 day before and it started fine, corroded wires and all.

Or weak battery. Clean it up and try again (with out the sparks)

I think your thinking is pretty good.
