Hi all....

I just bought a " Clinton 700" outboard at a yard sale
and I can't find the H.P. rating on it...
It's model number: J700 10000
serial number: 385119

Anyone know what horsepower this little gem is?
Also.... it looks AIR COOLED !!!!!!!
the cylinder has a sheet metal shroud over a finned cylinder.

Also has a forward/neutral lever, and throttle on the tiller handle.
Any help with this sweetheart is appreciated

I was told it was a 3hp, but it looks like a 5hp or 7hp to me maybe.

Re:

J700 first appeared in 1970/71 7hp. at 6,800 rpm.Later manuals indicate 6,000.
Power head is air cooled with a water cooled exhaust leg.Water should mist out of the exhaust relief holes on the leg.
Clinton has been out of business for some years.
These are marginal performers not worth investing too much money.

Cool ! thanks for the super fast response....
Yeah, I bought it for a whopping $5.00 at a yard sale today, and it started on the 3rd pull....
It'll make a good kicker/troller for the 1972 Starcraft Jetstream 15 footer I think.

Thanks again for the info...

John
