Clinton J-9 Question

Hey everyone,

New to the forum. I work as an apprentice at a small boat shop in upstate NY. The other day i went out back and picked up an old Clinton J-9 (5hp?) motor from one of our countless old outboards. It was set up from sitting for the last 15-20 years. After a fill up with marvel and letting it sit for a few days she finally turns over and has great compression, and spark. One of the few problems i have is trying to find a carb kit and an impeller for the exhaust housing cooling pump. I also need a set of points and a condenser(one of those things i like to change out when working on an old motor, better be safe than broke down on the lake). I called clinton, they have an answering machine so i could not talk to anyone in person. I was wondering if anyone knew of a company, mom and pop operation, anyone that has any of the above parts.
Thanks to anyone whom can help me out.

Re: Clinton J-9 Question

The points and condenser are made by Phelon - also used on other brands of outboards, including Mercurys of the 1950s and 60s. As such, I think you might be able to cross reference them through the Sierra line, available through NAPA and right here on iBoats.
