i am looking to buy a new trolling motor for my 15.5'mirrocraft closed bow aluminum boat. i really like the minnkota powerdrive with remote control.the problem is with the closed bow i have no access to stow and deploy it. i used to have an old motorguide that had a small rope to release the latch and pull it back ,is something like this possible with the powerdrive? no one around here stocks these motors so all my shopping is by catalog and net, and i cant tell if this is possible.the electric stow and deploy modelis way out of budget. any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

The problem with a closed bow with a sissor type mount is that you can't get the right angle on the rope to pull the motor back up. Pulling the rope to deploy it is another problem since all that happens is the rope unlatches it. For that boat you might want to settle for a stern mounted hand controlled model. They are considerably less expensive as well. In fact, why not pop for a used one. If and when you upgrade boats, get what you really want.

thanks for the input upinsmoke. i think i will settle for the stern mount and try to ty it in to my main steering. i really wanted a bow mount,as all of the serious fisherman i know say stearn mounts are a joke and for proper control you need a bow mount. btw i will NEVER upgrade boats, the old mirrocraft is just too cool.thanks again.
