Id like to make my boat more winter friendly since our big lakes stay ice free. Closed cooling was a dealer installed option on my 1984 3.8l OMC. Unfortunately theres not much info on the internet and the OMC shop manual doesnt have any detail. From the two pictures I can find on the internet I believe my manifolds are all ready drilled and tapped for closed cooling. The 2 barrel version of the 3.8 does not require a make up water pump. I think the closed cooling system uses a different thermostat housing but i havent been able to find a picture.
Does any have more info or pictures of the system?
Thanks

Ayuh,.... Closed coolin' or not, there's a raw water pump, 'n system that needs to be drained, so it don't freeze, 'n bust,....

If ya wanta boat All year 'round, just Drain the block, 'n manifolds, when pullin' the boat at the launch,....

I did just that for years, back when I chased muskies well into late season,....
