Hi all,

just pulled off my risers and it looks like the current gaskets are incorrect.

my 98 Penta 4.3l GL has a closed cooling system and my gasket has openings on all four corners. Should it not be a blocking plate with a closed cooling system?

assume the water just routes out the back of the manifold instead of into the riser.

correct?

if so could anyone kindly point me to the correct P/N?

Ayuh,..... I gotta think, Just yer block is freshwater cooled, a 1/2 system,........
or you'd have been havin' all sortsa problems runnin' a closed system, with the exhaust open like that,......

Volvo manifolds cannot he closed cooled because there is only a water passage at the bottom end of the manifold front and rear. For them to work in a closed (full) system there would have to be an inlet on the bottom end and an outlet on the top end like Merc uses. So the gaskets you have are correct.
