Re: closing off an old thru hull

I just did this.

I taped a spare piece of plexiglass against the hole on the outside (after cleaning, grinding and acetoning it).

I put in a layer of epoxy mixed with glass microbubbles from the inside. Followed up while wet with 3 layers of 32 oz. biaxial, cut to fit, progressively larger overlap from the inside.

Once it all hardened, I took off the plexi and the plug requires very little sanding to fair. A coat of paint will be needed to prevent yellowing long term.
