What is the idle rpm?

Either the trail out switch or low fluid in the hydraulics. Get a new dealer. Worse when you do from reverse to forward? When in reverse...does the unit want to screw itself out of the water?

Re: clunk when putting into gear.

the idle rpm is about 700. i know thats alittle high, and that proably explains my shift problem, i need to lower it alittle.

it only really does it in forward. and going into reverse is fine, and driving in reverse is o.k.

when the boat sits for a few weeks i notice that the lower unit drops alittle. but the dealer said that they pressure tested the system and it was fine. is there anything i can do on my own?

holds pressure on the cylinders when you're in reverse so that the unit doesn't "trail" out.
