I have a 1988 dt65. When the shift cables are disconnected I can manually shift into forward and reverse gears. However, in order for the gears to be in neutral I must push the clutch arm (on the motor) about a 1/2 inch toward reverse. It seems to me that neutral should be "in-the-middle" without having to keep pressure on the arm.The problem started when I changed lower units. the new lower unit is a 1987. Could the one year difference be causing the problem?
