New solenoids, new tilt motor, tilt worm shaft is good. When I hit the switch everything works, gear that drives the quadrant spins. Problem is it has no lifting power. Will not lift the outdrive. Removed the quadrant and clutch cover. Everything spins and engages, can hold the gear outside the clutch with a pair of large pliers with no resistance. Is this clutch related?? Do the cupped washers wear? TIA

FYI, disassembled the clutch. There's no pin or adjustment screw. Clutch pack/ washers seat against a c clip located in a groove in the centre of the gear shaft

Howdy,

It'll really help if you tell us exactly what you have!

You can stop that gear outside the clutch pack from rotating with a pair of pliers? I'm gonna' go with you on a clutch issue: I've never broken into one, so I'm no real help there. But I think you're on the right track. Is your Stringer hydro-mechanical shift?
