I have a CMC power tilt/trim on my boat and I suspect it is an older model since it doesn't look the same as those on their webite. The actuator appears to be leaking from the top piston. Can a repair be as simple as a couple O rings or will I have to buy a new one? What are my options? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

If you can't find a "kit" to rebuild yours, look at McMaster Carr for seals. You need to mic the I.D. and O.D. of each seal and make note of what they're made of (usually "soft" or "hard" is pretty much it) There are different types of seals depending on the pressures but you can see by the style of the old ones what you need to look at.

Todd, thanks for the info. It looks like the unit is serviceable, although I haven't taken it apart yet. My guess is that the company doesn't sell a rebuild kit since they want you to either buy new or a rebuilt from them. At least I have another option now if it is as simple as replacement of a couple seals.

ya, went through it last week. Only my V/P drive has to be removed, motor moved forward, just so they can replace a $500 actuator. 9-12 hrs labor.

... ah.. NFW!

I bought $30 of various seals and found a couple to work. (so far. we'll see how long it lasts)

I went to the McCaster Carr website and the choices are unlimited. I'm guessing you probably bought anything and everything that was close in size? I wonder if I can just send them what I've got and have them match them up?
