My Evinrude 140 (1979) is nearing the final moments of the break-in period, following a complete powerhead rebuild. I am very seriously considering upgrading the tilt-n-trim unit to the CMC jackplate unit. Are there any things I need to look out for prior to the installation. I'm not certain the current steering cable will be quite long enough although the shift, as well as throttle cables, should be fine. What other things will I need to consider prior to purchasing the CMC unit? And what kind of possitive or negative changes should I expect to see once the conversion is made? Currently, I am turning an OMC 19 pitch prop about 5800 rpm's on top end and coming out of the hole like a jackrabbit with it's a** on fire!!! Too, I have recently acquired a GPS unit to monitor the changes, although I have yet to take it with me in the boat. However, I plan to do this tomorrow afternoon at the latest. I also have a Rampage 20 pitch prop that will undergo testing as well. Will report back with my findings later. Thanks..................ALAN
