I got one of these CMC Vertical Extensions http://allinflatables.com/shopping/cook/ve.html to raise my 40hp 2 stroke long shaft outboard on the transom of my inflatable. I installed it yesterday but I'm not sure if I should use 6 bolts (3 on each side) through the transom or if the 4 I have now (2 on each side) is enough. I used 1/2 bolts with 2" washers and lock washers. The two additional bolts could be placed on the top about 3 inches from the other top transom bolts on either side. I am worried the extra two bolts and holes would do more to weaken the wood transom then they would to help keep the motor on but I am not sure.

Thanks for any advice.

I guess my question is simply is 4 bolts enough through the transom of an inflatable with a jacked 40hp motor?
