I found this story on cnn.com.

According to the article, CNN wasn't even there when the shooting occurred. I saw no mention of any reporters riding with terrorist snipers. The Yahoo article made no mention of that either.

Maybe you should read your own link Pointer. It did not say that the reporter rode with the terrorists and took the footage, it says that the footage came from the terrorists who took it themselves.

Fair enough to question whether or not the footage should have been shown-I don't think it should have been, from what I just read- but you should refrain from making up parts of the story that didn't happen.

Or do you have some other source besides your link that says otherwise?

I don't think they should have aired the clip. If a reported did ride with terrorists while this was happening he should be shot.

Having said that, I can't help but wonder what Fox News would have done if the video had been sent to them. Maybe they wouldn't have aired it or just maybe they would have taken opportunity to show the world what the Liberal Media wouldn't show.

It's just like Vietnam all over again, for the all mighty buck the news media will prostitute themselves and claim it's "our right to know"... like any thinking person didn't?... I hope their ratings tank.

Could be that CNN, being a left wing mouth, is trying to scare the folks and in doing so are saying; Vote for the Dems and they will get the USA out of Iraq so this won't happen.

Of course I could just be paranoid.

Re: CNN a national disgrace

I'm with Woodrat on this. It does not say the reporter was present during the shootings.

CNN should not have aired the footage. Very, very poor taste. Dispicable! But the war many of you support does have some realities, whether you like it or not. It's war! Did you think the daily death reports are something other than authentic? Americans are being killed every day. Their deaths are no less violent. Seeing it is somewhat a slap in the face to you, I guess.

Under alternative plans, our boys would not be open to such attacks. So support our presence in Iraq if you choose, but it is war and the opposing forces are doing what they are supposed to do, and they are not going to stop.

Re: CNN a national disgrace

I watched the CNN story, no the reporter DID NOT ride with the terrorists, yes CNN had some retired military snipers and generals on for an interview, yes CNN did blank out some portions of the video.
was it in poor taste, I think so but I think showing anyone dying on TV is in poor taste.
however CNN is not the only news organization world wide to recieve that video and there are more out there.

the military analysts also say the snipers were forieghn and forieghn trained,so much for Iraqi border security.

however looking at the fine job of securing our borders here in the US for the past 6 years its not a suprise we cannot secure the Iraq or afghanistan borders.

CNN also showed the release of an Iraqi leading terrorist. yep the Iraqi govt asked the US military to release a KNOWN not SUSPECTED killer of americans and Iraqi's and the US complied.
now that makes sense.
maybe Condi can talk to the saudi arabians about it.

Under alternate plans...they would prefer to kill thousands of civilians while they are at work. No Thanks!

Rodbolt,
Why do you say our borders have not been secure for 6 years?
I think it has been a lot longer than that.
Is it then Mr. Bush's fault if it has only been 6 years?

Re: CNN a national disgrace

whats the plan? alternative or not.
we have no plan it seems other than to keep enough troops in place to insure a loss.
one of the few military laws written in blood and stone and proven for many centuries of war is this, to CONQUER you MUST OCCUPY.
without occupation there cannot be victory.
to occupy means boots on the ground regaurdlesss of technology.
we do not now nor did we start this conflict with enough boots.
Rumsfeld and even Bush were warned.
many times they were warned.
however its been good for my stock portfolio :).

I had heard about it and would not watch it

On the other hand would you rather not know that snipers are free to roam the country killing at will ?

I agree.

The media would air a video of their grandmother being raped and killed if they could make a buck from it.

Just shameful.

rickster.
its not just the past 6 years .
however for the past six years the CURRENT administration has been shameful while trying to scare us.
what clinton,Bush senior and reagan did is mostly irrelavent. why bring it up.
I want to know why our CURRENT leadership has done less than nothing.
from the house of representatives to the oval office this administration has bungled about all domestic and international issues.
maybe we should ban all media and just show a govt news channel.
seems to work in other happy nations.

"The other showed the sniper incidents, seemingly taken by the insurgents themselves, CNN said."

Tasteless, yes, video taken by CNN reporter, no.

OJ,

"Under alternate plans...they would prefer to kill thousands of civilians while they are at work. No Thanks!"

What proof do you have they don't prefer it today?. What proof do you have that it will not or cannot happen today while we are in Iraq? What proof do you have that it would happen if we were not in Iraq? One does not necessarily equal the other. You only have words to back that statement.

"The media would air a video of their grandmother being raped and killed if they could make a buck from it."

And then the demagogues run wild with assertions that CNN reporters were assisting the snipers, so as to further THEIR twisted agenda of constantly attacking the media as enemies of the state.

Pointer, where did you hear that the reporters were with the snipers and taking the footage themselves? I am very curious. It can't have come from actually reading the link.
