Cobra 2.3 questions

Just bought an 89 Marlin bowrider with a 2.3 liter cobra. What is the max RPM recommended to run this at.<br /><br />When it is cold it idles nice at 700 rpm but after warm rpm goes up to 1100. Don't want to "klunk" in gear at 1100 all the time but if I turn the idle down it will stall when trying to put into gear since it wants to idle cold at 300-400 if I turn down.

You need to figure out why your engine is idling differently when warmed up. There shouldn't be that much of a change in RPM. I would look for a vacuum leak or see if setting your choke more lean improves this.
