Got a 1989 OMC 4.3L Cobra setup in my 17' bowrider. It has a 5.0L upper gear case and the 4.3L lower gear case.( I know , I need to change gears in the upper). Anyway , at the moment I have a 14x19 Aluminum Hustler prop on it. At 6500ft it is running at 3600rpms and 40mph. I realize that the WOT for the 4.3L is in the 4200-4400 range.
I am thinking of going to a 17p prop to pickup some of the lost rpm's. It has a good holeshot now. What do you guys think the change will do to my holeshot/top speed?
Think I should go to a 15p? , I know I am not going to get the right rpm range with the 17p , but I don't want to lose a bunch of my topend speed either.
