I have read lots of info as to gimble and engine alignment and all seem to agree that tool should slide "easily" into the bearing and splines. Mine slides easy but It still takes some effort to go all the way into the splines. The pattern in the grease seems consistent all around (on the spline portion) but I can't really say it goes in that easy. No matter what I do it just doesn't get better. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Re: cobra alignment

Many times if the coupler will build up old dried grease from heat that is crusty. This makes the alignment bar hard to push in. You can usually grease the alignment bar and put it in the coupler and rotate the bar a few times and clean it out. Even spray some penetrating oil in there and do the same thing. Turn the engine half a turn and do it again. Do all that a few times and it should clear up, if not, you may be out of alignment, or there could be a problem with your rear motor mounts. I've seen some engines installed pushed to one side causing the bar to bind.
