Just got an E mail from SEI and they are now building a converson kit to mount a Mercruiser Alpha unit in place of the Cobra drive. Thought that would be neat to see. Now if they made a kit to bolt an Alpha to the Yamaha. Price appears to be reasonable for the kit also.

Yeah,

That's outstanding! That'll make the used Cobras more worthless than they already are but the boats themselves will be worth a little more!


I thought they might try to actually make a Cobra drive but this is far better and cheaper. There's no reason it they couldn't do something similar on a Yamaha or a Volvo too!

I got to get my ruler out and measure the Yamaha sterndrive bellhousing. I wouldn't be that lucky to be able to convert one to Mercruiser.

Excellent, I love my hull and my cobra unit is in real good shape. But if something happened I have options I am real happy to hear this.......

It doesn't help you if you have a 460 King Cobra though because they claim it won't work on a "King" cobra and of course, it doesn't solve the coupler or manifold/riser problem the 460 has......
