I have reviewed the referenced "how to adjust cobra" and find it somewhat hard to follow. I replaced my lower shift cable going to drive last year and have just had the upper rebuilt. I believe the cable is setting at the pecified 7 & 3/8 (or 5/8- to the book anyway) From that point, is the point of adjusting to get the neutral position of the shift lever (boat side) even with it's counterpart on the OD its self? Or could there be a situation where it would be offset? Does anyone have a round about as to pricing range for an adjustment?

Yeah, I just found that site a few minutes ago and you are right. Very Comprehensive. I have printed off and will give it a try this weekend. I had my upper rebuilt at TC Marine, great job there~very impressed~ price and quality~ and thouroughness. Will be testing this weekend and will post back monday.

Went for a test spin. About 16 miles. Ran great. I am going to put a tune-up on it this week including a carb kit, oil change, gas water seperator change and grease fittings. Thanks for reply.
