Does anyone know if a prop from a king cobra outdrive will fit a standard cobra outdrive. Are the splines and shaft OD the same? Any help is appreciated.

Depends on which "standard Cobra Outdrive". The early 4cyl ones have a different prop shaft diameter than the later ones and the V6-V8's.

-Roger

I have a 1988 cobra outdrive with a 5L chevy engine. The prop is off a king cobra I don't know the year.

You should have the drive that uses the V6/V8 outboard type props which is the same as the King. If it slips on, it will work. It may not be the right pitch but it should fit. Usually in a 3 blade version the diameter will be around 14 1/4".

Good luck!

Bondo -- the Merc props will fit the OMC/Cobra/Bomb motors. Simply shorten the Merc splines and away you go. We do it all the time.

How cool, you just doubled your prop inventory!

Dhadley, You're No Doubt Right.....
Do you do this with a large drill or ream, Or rehub the prop ??????

When I was playing with the two, the OMC prop slips onto my Merc propshaft, you just need a very Thin Nut to hold it on.....Although this could be the length of the Torque-Shift prop, I didn't try a regular prop.......
The Merc prop stopped short on the OMC propshaft by a considerable distance.......

Actually we shorten the splines in a mill. Most prop shops can do it very easily. No big deal.
