Re: cobra swap

No, but Volvo does make a kit that includes raw water pump and brackets, belts, hoses, pivot housing, bellows, trim cylinder spacers, etc to make the changeover. That is unless you own a 460 Ford, then you are on your own. I've done that change a couple of times, but wouldn't recommend it anymore because the 460 Ford couplers are NLA.
No reason to hook a perfectly good drive up to an engine if there isn't a coupler to hook it up to the engine.
I could email you a copy of what I did (Has pics and in WORD format) if you want it. And IF I can still find it.

EDIT: Just noticed I posted AFTER your second post saying you had a 460...... Sorry to hear that.

Re: cobra swap

is there a coupler that i could set in an indexer and mill new holes if i find the odd hole datum? one with the same thickness? would a sx-m hold up to some beefy horsepower? what gear would i need for lower rpm? im goin to eventully put a diesel in it so i need something that will hold up to that as well. i really like the idea of no shift interupt for volvo cone clutches. those are ideal for diesels. but i cant afford both right now... so instead of putting a diesel on a cobra, i need to put the ford on something else. and hey hey i have an sx-m 1.51

Re: cobra swap

Volvo doesn't use the SX for big HP & Torque engines, the big blocks all go to the dual prop DP-S drive (Same mounting as the SX) so there are some props in the water to turn the power into useful energy. I wouldn't even want to try to put an SX on a 460.

Re: cobra swap

thats why im picking brains here. i dont want something to blow up on me as soon as a crack the throttle. what gear is good for the dp-s. could i get a coupler for the dp? or is there one that could be machined? why is there an oblong bolt pattern? is that just for the flywheel balancing or is the coupler balanced as well?
