Hi,
1995 Seaswirl with 5.0 Penta SX;
When the drive is trimmed up for trailering it will gradually drop back down unless the trailering chalks are in place. Is this normal? (doesn't seem like it should do that)
thanks

Re: Cobra SX trim

Seems you may have a "bad" seal somewhere in the trim/tilt system. Are there signs of leakage anywhere? Maybe air is trapped in the system and gradually escapes over time! Hope this helps.

I believe internal to the pump body is a couple check valves (ball bearings/springs) and i would suspect one is dirty, stuck, etc.

Re: Cobra SX trim

I'd suspect a seal on the piston, inside one of your trim cylinders is to blame.

You can trim all the way up till the drive is full up and then continue to run the pump "up"- a second person with a stethoscope on the barrel of each cylinder may hear which one is leaking internally. A screwdriver handle to your ear works well as a stethoscope if you do not have one.
Try it all the way "down" if you didn't hear the difference going "up"

Not good for the pump, but if you continue to stall it out full raise or full lower, the leaking piston seal will actually generate some heat in the offending cylinder and you might feel the cylinder getting warm.
