Hi all, I had a question regarding a newly aquired '90 OMC cobra 5.7L. After checking the tilt\trim and only getting a clicking from the solenoid I stright wired the motor with nothing. Opened it up and the amature was rusted up. I ordered a new motor but I wanted to check the solenoid\breaker to make sure it works so I can order another asap. It takes 2 weeks or so to get parts out here. So my question is, how can I check the soleonid to make sure it is working properly? Thanks....

volt meter to the contacts, activate the solenoid, the current should flow. all a solenoid is, is a remote switch.

Re: Cobra Tilt\Trim problem

I have an 88 cobra and 5.7 with this same problem. I replaced the solenoids. They worked once, now the clicking. Sometimes, cleaning the fuses and connections fixes it, but not this time. Where else might the problem be? Is the isse that I am losing power in the system somewhere?
