So I am looking to rip the floor out of my 16 ft. center console to replace the stringers and furnish a new deck. I am curious about the logistical issues concerning the electrical wiring and the cockpit removal. What is a preferred method of securing all of the loose wires through the subfloor for when I put the new deck in? Also, if I wanted to replace the wires, I dont know much about electrical work, but I know alot of the inplace wires are dried out, cracked, etc.. What is a preferred method of replacing those wires? They are mainly the ones going to the speedometer and the tach, as well as the trim switch and the ones for the bilge pump, livewell, fishfinder, steering linkage, and night running lights.
Also, when I am reinstalling the cockpit, should there be any extra support within the subfloor for it? Or should I just screw the cockpit down to the deck that is newly fiberglassed. I know that seems simplistic and not very worthy, but I am shooting into the wind here. Also, what is a good way to seal it to the deck so water wont reach the bilge or through the screw holes? I also have a livewell built into the seat behind the cockpit. Is there any extra support to make for that as well?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. And also, if you have any good links to stringer repair and installation, it would be greatly appreciated since I dont have much experience working with fiberglass.
