Coil ground

I have a .6 ohm flame thrower canister type coil. My question is does it need to be grounded to engine by way of the bracket. My boat never had a bracket when I bought it but I know there is one for these coils

The bracket is for mounting not grounding.

No grounding of coil body required mount it where and how ever you like
