OK. There is a "resistance" wire on my ignition coil on my 1972-1976 mercruiser 302 (engine transplanted into 1992 17 foot, open bow Chris Craft). The resistance wire runs to the electric choke. So here are my questions:
1) Will unhooking this wire from the choke burn out the coil?
Reason i ask is i am having starting issues and have ordered a new coil. This coil is for a 1977 ford 302 (on year newer) than my 72-76 engine. please advise.
