Coil sparking

I have a canister style coil and I took off the coil wire so I could bump engine over with out it starting and it was sparking between the posts. Normal or no

normal , all that energy has to go somewhere, unplug the power wire to the distributor in future.
well you know the coil is good

Ayuh,..... Normal,....... Unplug the other end, 'n ground it out,.....
