coil wires

1985 thundercraft 140 hp io

HELP my friend was helping me get boat started and removed 4 wires from coil. red/black/green/ whiteyellow. i have book from seloc but its has grey wire, i know the red is positive, and black is ng ,not sure on green and whiteyellow? i dont want to burn up any wires

Sounds like someone wired the coil with different colors.

Post a clear picture of your engine, and one of the distributor and coil wiring. I'm sure it's repairable.

Worse case your going to have to try and trace each wire back to where they go, and write it down so we can see what is going on. You may only have a couple of feet of the wrong color and it connects to the original colors.

As easily it was wired wrong, it can be wired correctly.
