I have a 200 hp not quite sure what year (I tryed to find that out in previous post, 200xtrr ser.763908) I just got it and it sure is hard to get started and keep idled. I have to fire it up and run the starter till I can get it in gear and get underway, after 2400 rpms it gets with the program then after it runs it's okay also it smokes so much at start up I can't see the motor. Any comments??

I don't know your experience with carbed outboards but my initial guess is that you need to change you starting procedures and/or adjust your idle rpm's. How are you starting it? Are you holding in the choke while you are cranking? Are you disengaging the gearing and opening up the throttle any? Once it's in warmed up, and in foreward at idle, are you at the correct idle rpm's?

I have a carbed 225 and it smokes when I start it too.

RBU thanks for the info, I talked with the felo that rebuilt it and I need to check on a couple other sinerioes. I will be in touch with a result.
