Cold Galvenizing spray paint is not much more than paint with some powdered zinc mixed into it. As posted, it is probably some better than regular paint for minor touch-ups and repairs, but it definietly is no replacement for the "real thing".

Its used by trailer retailers to touch up damage to galvanized trailers. I have used it a few times on bare steel stock that was used outdoors. Worked much better than Rustolium. I recall finding a comparison of cold zinc spray on the web once. Basically, the higher the zinc content, the better the product.

It is not the real deal, not much better than paint.
Try rust bullet or por-15 for a much better coating. Or get the real deal hot dip galvanized.
Rust bullet does not need to be top coated with paint, but you need to apply 2 coats.

Por 15 is great paint but it has it's limitations .One is it doesn't come in a spray paint ,an other is it needs to be covered with another kind of paint it doesn't work well with the sun light and it cost an arm and a leg. A friend of mine was a dealer for many years and we used it on a exhaust on a motor cycle of mine to test it out. It stopped the rust. I use cold galvanize my self .It's fairly cheap , it dries in seconds ,it last forever. I get it at West Marine. in a 16 oz can.
