I have a 1993 Larson i/o with a 4.3 Mercruiser 4.3LX motor. Towards the end of last season it became hard to start cold. Starts and runs great warm. How can I check to see it the choke is working right. Where can I get info on choke adjustment? My Clymer book does not address this.
Thanks,
Ed

Re: Cold start problem

Do this cold. Take flame arrestor off and look down in the carb. If the choke valve is close the choke is probably working OK. If it is open more than a smigon it may need adjusting. There is a flat plastic plate where the elec hooks up with 3 little screws holding the plate in place. Loosen the screws a little till you can rotate this plate. When you do, you'll see the valve open and close. Move it back and forth a couple of times to loosen the valve if it was stuck. Turn the plate as to close the valve about 3/32 from full close and tighten screws. Start engine. Hopefully it will do right. If I've left anything out, check back on your post and you'll read about it.
