cold start problems. 2008 50 hp yamaha two stroke.

Took boat to the lake. I had a difficult time keeping the engine running. After it warmed up, it ran and started great. Next morning same difficult initial cold start. Starting procedure I was using. Left fast idle lever halfway. Push in key and turn. Spark plugs have only been in there on season, should I replace them. An advice is welcomed

I am thinking the 2008 model might not have a choke,
could be it has the prime start enrichment system
and raising the fast idle lever should not be done to that motor on cold start
