Has anyone seen this show?

It's about the fishery in Newfoundland. A little like Deadliest Catch. The show follows 6 boats as they fish fora variety of seafood. All speak with a traditional Newfie accent, so there are sub titles so "mainlanders" can understand. Lol

Cool! I'll have to look for that one. My maternal grandfather and uncles made their living fishing in the summer and I think, sealing in Labrador in the winter. I might even be able to understand them without the subtitles.

My grandfather made a living doing that and a few cousins continue the tradition and lifestyle. Tough, tough people with warm hearts and a work ethic second to none.

Yep, the show is filmed a few hours from where I live. Twilingate is about 3-1/2 hrs from me. The port of St. John's is only a hour. There is one guy on the show reminds me of a buddy of mine. And yes he's a fisherman too. I think his name is Conway on the "Seadoo". He wears a red Mustang floater suit.

I spent 8 years working with two of the big processors, all over the island and the Labrador coast.
Met some of the finest people on the planet and saw an awful lot of the places "around the bay".
And to answer the big guy's question, no... I don't think it's easy....and I am not going to try. :)

Knew a few folks from Bay Roberts, Carbonear, and Harbour Grace.

Tim,

That's the part of the island where I live. The admirals family is from Cupids. All but three are still there. There is one brother and 2 sisters in Bay Roberts. We've been here a little over 3 yrs now.

I agree that some of the most hospitable, and friendly people live here.

I think my absolute favorite area is White Bay....Jacksons Arm...Harbour Deep...Englee and Roddington.
But I sure have a soft spot for Conception Bay. :)

Problems with the fishery notwithstanding, there have been some real upticks in Nfld. fortunes in recent years and I am thrilled for you guys.
Oil revenue is a huge plus....and if the trans-Labrador hydro feed gets completed , prospects are great!

Never been to the west coast of the island. Not yet anyway. Have a few buddies from over there. One from Harbour Deep, another from Port Au Port. SIL has relatives in Englee. Truly a small world.

Maybe this summer I will task a bike trip to see that part of the island.
