It would be nice to extend boat (Colorado USA)fishing into the fall, but still stay warm and dry.

Some of the nicer Gortex coats/pants setups from Cabelas and others, easily top $200. Ouch :( !!

Anyone know of on-line retailers that have some good stuff at a little better price?

Thanks

The good stuff is gonna' cost ya. If you find it cheap, chances are it's cheap stuff. You should have been looking over the summer when it's hot and people are looking for light rain gear. If you do decide to spend the money, it will be worth it. They last along time.

martyscher,

If it is gonna keep you warm and dry, chances are its not gonna be cheep. What I use is my hunting jacket and bibs. Columbia has quaility products that last for years. I feel I have got my monies worth. When you get wet and cold the fun is over. My columbia jacket is at least 11 years old and still holding up.This thing has been used and abused while duck hunting, it's still water proof and warm. At $220.00 that's not but $20.00 a year so far and it is still a good jacket. A $20.00 rain coat would not last me one week.

just my $.02 though :D

Sorry but I will have to agree with the above post. I puchased quality gear about 8 years ago and it's still holing up to this day. No better feeling than being out on the water when its 35 raining and your warm and dry and know your going to stay that way. Heck I've fished out when it was 18 and snowing and stayed warm and dry. Though getting the boat out of the water was a different story! Spend the extra bucks it's worth it. All my stuff is Marmont and North Face. And don't forget to wear a life vest because if you go over with that suff on your going to sink like a rock! :D

I've found some real nice winter clothing from Northface and Marmot for great prices at the rei outlet website, snow leopard mountain sports, backcountry gear, etc. I don't buy anything unless it is on closeout sales, and I've found some great quality gear that enables me to fish/camp in fall/winter. Even if you have to pay more $$$$ for good quality it is worth it. The one thing that was mentioned, repeated and bears repeating agian is shop during spring and early summer because winter gear is on clearence then.
