I purhcased a coleman inflatable kayak, it's the one-seater sit-in version. It says on the stern not to leave in or near the water. What is the reasoning for this?

Not sure why you can't leave it in the water. You don't want to leave it on the beach out of the water because the sun will overheat it and it can burst. Maybe it's just a general disclaimer to cover their butts. :D

Be interesting to hear what they have to say....you'd think that, being a boat and all, it would spend most of its life in or near the water!

AHA! Finally got to talk to coleman after being on hold for 2 hours. Anyway, they said it might float away if you leave it in the water. True, it doesen't have rope tie-ons as standard equipment. But with some extra-strong adhesive rings, I have managed to attached 4 ropes. So I don't know whether I should or shouldn't. Maybe I'll try it for a couple of hours and see if anything disasterous happens
