I see a major problem with the police department there. Why would a Deputy Sheriff be FIRED for seking light duty while preegnant???? FIRED, For Gosh Sake??!! Is that a common event in Ohio???

For the sake of a lost salary, there is a lost life, a destroyed family, a shortage of manpower in a force, a lost citizen in the community, fatherless child, and now TWO lost salaries. What will or can a new widow do??? Hopefully the community will come togeher and prvide for the family. If anyone hears of a fund set up, please post it here!!

I hate to say it flat but I can understand the light duty. Some have pushed so hard on the equal rights that they now have them. If a man has something wrong with them the employer is under no obligation to accomadate him. The same is true for a woman.

Your second paragraph really makes it hit home. As I said before, what a shame.

There's a specific pay rate and many, if not most, supplement their meager incomes handsomely.
Your second paragraph speaks volumes about the loss to the family and the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Thanks, Brian...I will cut a check and get it out to them. I cannot imagine the loss they feel. We had a local officer about a year ago respond to a guy who was naked and obviously high, dancing through traffic in Seattle. The same guy was a fresh prison release, and had made brag he was going to kill an officer when the opportunity arose. It arose that day!! The officer who esponded became the target of this lunatic, and he began accosting the officer, slapping at his holster and trying to get at his gun, and this guy was one really big strong guy. A large crowd of idiots gathered, with noone even remotely attempting to assist. When the guy got the gun out of the officer's holster, the oficer ran and was brought down with a shot to the leg. Then the lunatic approached and as he smiled into the officer's face, calmly executed him with a shot the head. A family was left fatherless, husbandless, and a huge hole in many hearts. The lunatic was recently sentenced to life in prison.

Not even one person, though some witnesses admitted to being armed, made any effort whatever to help this man and save him from death. Even some interviewed in the crowd mentioned they had never seen such fear in a human's eyes before, and some being armed, voiced fear of hitting someone else, or just didn't think of using their gun, or whatever excuse. Made me sick. Would I have helped? I like to think that if I had been there and armed, that officer would never have been killed. But that is being said from the safety and comfort of my office chair.
