My immediate need is getting a new sonar for my boat. However, I would like to have a GPS in the future.

Is it worth the money to bite the bullet now and buy a combo GSP & Sonar in the same box? I don't think I have space problem if I buy two separate boxes. Cost wise I can see the different, but I don't know if a combo box perform at the same level as two separate boxes. I would appreciate any feedback that upi may have on the combo.

Re: Combo Sonar & GPS

I recommend seperate boxes, Mr. T.

The best GPS for your needs and the best sonar for your needs probably aren't made by the same company and almost certainly aren't made in the same box.

Yes, a combo is less expensive than the same performance in seperate boxes. The reason is mostly because you don't have to buy the second display, but then you don't get to look at full screens on both at the same time.

Good luck. :)

Mr T
I agree with JB, if you have the room get seperate units. This way can set each up the way you want it and don't have to keep switching back and forth.

If you can not afford two units then at lease get a big screen. Electronics very solid today but two units does give you added reliabilty, also when you want to change or up grade a unit in the future will not have to buy both. Hard to find a fishfinder you want and the gps you want in the same box.
