WHO has ever heard of a Commando 750? HAVE YOU?<br />I have one, it's great! BUT all I know about the thing is:<br />-Seller tells me it's a '69 or '70? and he thinks it's a 3HP.<br />-Says on it Commando 750, Commando Motors, Div. of McMAr in Newport Beach, CA. SN is 4618, tag on eng: T-639-07B 6305023. It's 2-stroke weighs 30#, 1 cylinder has cooling fins. Direct drive, 3 fins on prop, no reverse or neutral. The motor, the controls and the carb look more like a Briggs and Stratton than like most other old boat motors I've seen.<br />Starts and runs excellent and I WANT TO USE IT but I don't want to hurt it. SO... need to find out what I can. PLEASE tell me what ya know, any info is appreciated. (Wow! Newport Beach 1969, a wild place, and w/ OB motor manufacturing too).<br />ty, mark

Re: commando 750? who has ever heard of that!

I have a commando 500. Got out at a scrap yard. Dont know much about them. I think my commando is a 60s something. companys like chrysler mercury and johnson made and sold very simple motors, like lawn mowers motors, on a bottom end "prop n stuff" to stores like sears and montgomery wards. So I'm guessing the commando is like that but from california. I live in wisconsin, how it got way out here... I dont know. I do think they are quite rare and moderately valuable.

How about a picture? I suspect it is just another Eska-built motor, but could be wrong. A picture is worth a bunch of words.

Gearcase and leg while a similar type assembly with 360 degree reverse and 2 piece gearcase,it is is comepletely different from the Eska. No anti vent plate no provision to cool the leg.5" diameter X 7" pitch prop.A single screw clamp. It does use a Tecumseh powerhead.

A picture is worth 1000 words. The better you can help us, the better we can help you. We're still kinda flying blind here.
