Never heard of one before, but I found a 18' closed bow International with a 135 Horse 3L 4cyl OMC I/O.

Looks to be in decent shape, based on the pictures. $5k (Canadian) is what they are asking for it, seems about par for dealers around here for boats of that vintage. It does seem a bit on the pricey side (especially when compared to the dealers out there in the US), I can find cheaper boats if I go private, but I have more confidence in a business. At least that way I have someone to go back on if if has been misrepresented.

From my experience with my present hull, I now know what to look for in the way of bad hulls, floors, transoms, etc. That didn't really cost me anything other than some time to learn the hard way, but lots of good knowledge from it.

I still have to go look at it in person, but was hoping you all might have some comments about it. I can find very little info on the 'net about the the brand, anyone have any knowledge about International?

just this is enough reason to run from it. "135 Horse 3L 4cyl OMC I/O."

What year is it? Don't have any experience with that brand. If you can't find any information, that probably means the company is out of business, and was never really a big manufacturer. Idk what $5k converts to in AD, but it seems high......

5k?
Ouch..The reason TashaDaddy posted his response is that OMC has been out of business for 10 + (?) years. It really stands for Obsolete Motor Company..

There is SOME service support out there, but techs are hard to find not to mention replacement parts...

For that amount of money...You can pick up a good Mercruiser I/O or Volvo set up...Not to mention the large amount of outboard equipped boats out there...

The choice is of course ultimitly yours...I personally would not invest that money into this particular boat..

Best of luck in your search..

Sorry, I thought I put the year in there.

1974...

motor and drive look to be in good shape, as does the bilge and transom, but noticed that the keel had been repaired along a significant portion of it's length, which concerns me. Also the floor was quite uneven throughout so I suspect it has been patched in places.

and 5,000 CAD converts into ~ 4,400 USD.

It is configured just the way I want (closed bow, 16-18', I/O) but I think I'll give this one a pass and keep on looking. Something in that price range with a nice 6 cyl Merc would be perfect.

Unfortunately, I honestly don't think I'm going to find much better around here for that money though, the market is too tight.
