Hi all, I've been reading the posts for some time and I'm about ready to buy my first boat. I'm torn between two boats. a 2000 20ft Striper WA with a 150 Merc and a 1999 20ft Proline WA w/ a 150Merc. Both are similarly priced just wondering if anyone had any strong opinions one way or the other.....Thanks for any info.

Re: Comparison

Proline seems to be a better boat for shallow areas due to the 11" draft...Striper has 29" draft but is dryer in rough water. What is the price difference and where are you boating?

Re: Comparison

Prices are about the same(17-18K)...Boating would be in the bays of south shore long island with occasional open ocean on calm days....

i dont think to many places have more shallow spots and channels with 2 ft of water than the great south bay.

but i also like to keep dry which can be hard when the afternoon wind chops up the bay

tommays

Re: Comparison

Before jumping off check iboats engine prices. They have a 2003 200 hp Merc for $7,400.00 with a 1 yr warranty. The deals you are looking at get you a 5-6 yr old motor with, probably, no warranty. That would mean you are probably paying over $10K for the boat if priced seperately. Seems a bit much to me.
