Not thinking, I mounted stereo speakers under my dash and the speakers are interfering with the operation of my top-mounted compass. Is there anyway to shield the compass from this interference without moving the speakers or the compass? I have an aluminum boat.

Re: compass shielding

Probably a way to do it, but it would cost ya... compass dosn't work good with magnets around it...move the compass... lots of them have built in magnets for setting them up, but they can't handle things like speaker magnets next to them..........

Re: compass shielding

Only real answer is to move one away from the other or get a different speakes witha smaller sheilded magnet. Then you may be able to tune the compass. If you boat offshore or in foggy areas then compass is a very inportant safty iteam.

Re: compass shielding

Mu metal is used for magnetic shielding. Can the speaker be sheilded so the compass will work? Yes. Is it practical? Probably not.
