Anyone know/recall how a competition skiing event goes?
ie: speeds? (increments?, min/max speeds, etc)
vs. rope lengths (...so much ft 'off' or?)
vs. #of gates/buoys made?
What are the start conditions of a tournament vs. the 'target' optimum?
Do the tournaments have ranges of the above for say..junior, novice, etc?
Thanks.

Re: Competition Skiing Rules help?

Tournament skiing has many different variables. How you are scored depend on your age category/division, i.e MensII is age 25-33, MensIII is 34-41etc... What the age category tells you is the boat speed at which you have to ski your line lengths starting at 15' off. Line lengths go 15, 22, 28, 32, 35, 38, 39.5, 41, and 42 off, the current world record being 2@42off at 36 mph. Open mens proffessional tournaments are pulled at 36 mph regardless of your age. Mens II for example has its own series of passes in divisional tournaments, ie the minimum starting pass in a tournament for this age group is 15 off @ 30mph, pass 2 is 15 off @ 34mph, pass 3 is 15 off @ 36mph, if you run in that order then you drop a line lenght to 22 off @ 36mph, anything over 15 off has to be pulled at 36mph in mens II. You must run full six bouys to go to another pass. In mens II you can start at any pass number you want, say pass 4, 22 off at 36mph, if you run that pass you are scored 36 buoys because you get credit for six buoys in each of the previous passes you skipped. If you started at pass four and fell at 3 ball you would only be scored 3 total beacause you haven't completed any passes prior. I can go on and on, hope this helps, lets me know if you have any questions
