Acquired an old bass boat with a mid 70’s evinrude 115 on it and another Johnson 90 sitting inside of it. Messed with it today and got 115 turning over with great compression even on a weak starter. Originally had spark on 2 port cylinders but not on starboard cylinders. Then lost all spark. I’ve read to disconnect the main plug and check to see if there is spark. I plan on doing that tomorrow.

In the meantime I’ve found some broken and disconnected wires that I don’t know where they go to. Gonna try and upload some pics and hopefully someone can help me out IMG_8848.jpeg

In pic 1 you can see there is a cut wire coming off of that block… on pic 2 if you look there is a brown wire with a clip on the end of it right next to the red plug… no clue where it goes.

Install a factory solenoid.-----Starter must spin the flywheel fast to generate the spark.-----The loose foam ( mice ? ) bits must be dealt with.

I believe that site has the exact wiring diagram for your motor.----But do a complete evaluation on this motor BEFORE spending beer tokens on it.-----And --"great compression " -- means nothing to me.----Post the actual / accurate values.

117, 114, 121, and 118 with a weak starter. Gonna swap starter off of my other 115 and take new compression numbers

Don't be surprised if your 50'ish year old motor...with no previous known history... does not produce ' better ' compression figures though.

And l like older outboards...coz they are like me...simple!
