Completed casting deck

Finished the casting deck today. It was a straight forward project, only took a few days to complete. I used 1/2 inch CDX for the deck. Since there is already bow seating in place, I had considerable strength, so I only had to fortify the area in the middle between the bow seats. I screwed 'n glued another layer of 1/2 inch ply to the deck on the underside. This gives more than enough strength to walk on and to mount the pedestal base to. I through bolted the base so it will never go anywhere, and there is no flex when seated. I coated the entire deck in traction paint and bolted it to the bow seats. I also made hatches to access the original bow seat storage, and now there is addition storage under the middle of the casting deck.

Its coming along, it is still ugly but I will be painting it when the weather becomes tolerable. My next immediate project is to sew up some permanent seat cushions and backrests. My mother gave me a heavy duty sewing machine that she bought and never used, so that will handle my upholstering chores.

I don't understand why it is red x-ing, they show up on my screen. Oh well, you can click the link, the pics are in the Skanky Beast album...

Even if I go to Webshots.com and just pick some random picture belonging to someone, I link it to here and it shows up for me when I preview it. Who knows....

Still redx for me anyhoo-
I'm kinda lucky I guess as my ISP allows me 10 meg to store files. Thus, I just FTP upload files from my 'puter to my storage space on their server.

I don't know. I stopped by my sisters house today and looked on her computer and all the pics on this and other posts I have put pics on show up. I think things are fine on my end.

Looks great Jason. I've gotta tell you...I just love seeing pictures of this kind of work. After seeing something that looks this good, It's hard to believe that some folks would spend $15 - $20 thousand on a new boat. I'm curious, what's the rating on that trolling motor (in terms of #s thrust)? I need to get one for my boat.

I have moderate obsessive-compulsive syndrom. If it wasn't for my better half, everything I own would be in neat little rows. She keeps things just chaotic enough around the house that I can't quite keep up, but the garage is all mine. :D

One word Jason---"Excellent"---I have this mental image of SB slowly gliding around a quiet bay, you casting and the bow mount silently churning away. Real nice work, as usual. ;)

Re: Completed casting deck

Thanx Pat, it'll be cool when you get your project going. Right now I am working on a website to document all my work and be able t show it all without red Xs and the other picture problems I have been plagued with. Building websites are a lot of time consuming work, but it should be okay when I finish...
