Finished the casting deck today. It was a straight forward project, only took a few days to complete. I used 1/2 inch CDX for the deck. Since there is already bow seating in place, I had considerable strength, so I only had to fortify the area in the middle between the bow seats. I screwed 'n glued another layer of 1/2 inch ply to the deck on the underside. This gives more than enough strength to walk on and to mount the pedestal base to. I through bolted the base so it will never go anywhere, and there is no flex when seated. I coated the entire deck in traction paint and bolted it to the bow seats. I also made hatches to access the original bow seat storage, and now there is addition storage under the middle of the casting deck.

Its coming along, it is still ugly but I will be painting it when the weather becomes tolerable. My next immediate project is to sew up some permanent seat cushions and backrests. My mother gave me a heavy duty sewing machine that she bought and never used, so that will handle my upholstering chores.
