If I do a compresion test on my engine will the presure bleed down if there is a hole in my exhaust manifold? If so is there anyway to seperate it so that I can narrow down the presure leak to the engine or the manifolds. I might be way off on this.

Re: Compresion test question

compression tests only measure the pressure in the cylinders. The test is mainly used to test the condition of the head gasket, valves, and rings. Exhaust manifolds shouldnt have anything to do with compression.

Re: Compresion test question

no, the pressue is held in the gage only, after cranking your engine. The compression from the pistons will bleed through the rings very quickly.
