compression 60lbs on all six

yes thats 60lbs on all, on my 83 200hp mercury....it was a cold test throttle held open and all plugs out, the only problem i was having is its was turning over real slow...it that the reason is was so low ?... i used jumper cables and touched the starter to turn it over...

Afternoon BigKash,<br /><br />Yup, from here 60 sounds low. Does the motor run? IF yes, try warming her up, then check. Might want to "decarb" while she is running. Do a search on "decarb" in this forum. More then enough info to explain the details.<br /><br />Not alot to go on. Could be the speed of the cranking but,... have you/can you do a "leak down" on the cylinders ( how well are they "holding" pressure)?<br /><br />Let us know what you find/know. thanks, my guess is that the motor was turning too low, anyone else ?

Bigkash, you are trying to judge the health of your motor using a flawed procedure, why would you expect 'usual' numbers? if that engine does not turn over at normal cranking speed [300+ rpm] any readings you get are gonna be off....
