Hi everybody. I have a 1963 40 HP Gale "Sea King" model no. GG18805A. First off, I only get 75 psi on both pistons, secondly, I can't find a listing of specs to what it should be, and lastly, is the nut atop of the flywheel a standard right handed thread? I'm also not getting any spark on the no. 1 plug, so I have to remove the flywheel to get to the ignition wires, solenoid, etc. Thanks for your help.

75 is probably okay because they match, Willie.

Yes, the nut is RHT.

Have you tried switching plugs?

um, no. That would be the first easy thing to check. Isn't that what my dad always said to do, start from the simplest and work back? But I am replacing the plugs anyway with new ones. they're clean, but the electrodes are worn down a bit.
And I thought the compression seemed low even though they equalled, everyone I've talked to seems to think it should be 120 or better. Thanks for your help!

it would be nice if they were above 100, but being equal is more important, each compression guage measures differently. when you get it running, do a decarb with seafoam deep creep, it cleans the carbon from the innards, and very well may bring the compression back up. like to know the results. every praises it do to increased performance. you will need a harmonic balancer pulley to pull the fly wheel, don't use the 1/4 inch bolt that come with is as they will ruin the fly wheel, use 1/4 x20 #8 harden bolts. do not hammer on the flywheel tighten the center bolt a tap on the center bolt. a couple of good raps and it will POP off. and besure to retorque to and i don't have the spec for the torque but should be 100-105 ftlbs. if you don't torque it it will shear the woodruff key.

yeah, I've read the other postings on the removal w/the harmonic puller, and I pulled and cleaned the carb and lines already, (which was in really good shape, btw) and ran some Sea Foam through it. I'll be really happy if I find that the ign. wires is causing the problem w/the non-firing. I'm sure they haven't ever been replaced. Thanks for the help, as usual!
