I have a 1977 Johnson 9.9. Looking at it for my son. Is 90 and 95 on the cylinders acceptable? Sat all last year and probably hasn’t been decarbed in a while.

Low, but might improve if you can get it up and running. My 9.9s are in the 120s.

Might try another tester. Test with both plugs out, and pull it over until the needle stops rising. Note the reading. Throttle position is not a factor, btw.

Thanks. It’s an electric start. He’s likely got a carb problem as well since he didn’t winterize in 2019. Hope to get it running soon.
