I have a 87 85hp Force, did a compression check on it yesterday, the readings are as follows.. 120,119,120.. Does anyone know if that is within spec for my motor?? (just ordered the Owner manual) Also I have never done a decarb before, but am going to run it through tonight, after I do that does it increase the compression any, just curios??? :)

Re: Compression & decarb

Compression readings look good. The decarb will only increase compression if lower readings are due to carbon build-up on ring grooves causing rings to stick and not make full spring contact to cylinder walls.Make sure to give your engine a good water run following decarb to expell any dislodged carbon. Also a good idea to inspect ,clean , or replace sparkplugs after a water run.Might want to bring plugs aboard with you just in case one fouls.
